When I first started this blog I wanted to reflect on what I was doing. It was an early internet age where we could stumble across the sites of others. I ‘met’ others and got better at teaching, reading and living.

For many years our internet diets have become curated sites: Instagram, Reddit et al. I refused to move my blog there, at least for now (the past decade or so). I still enjoy a steady stream of readers, although more in the hundreds than the thousands. I stepped away from Twitter long ago.

So what might be the purpose of writing in this blog right now?

I want to know better what I am doing and why I am doing it.

I want to make my life easier, or at least less difficult. Like Eliot says, why not do the same for others.

I want to make a space now my post-grad work is completed.

I want to consider what made teaching so arduous and consuming in my early career, and see how to make things better for others

I want to read and write more of others around me.

I want to make the furiously conceptual to the immediately pragmatic.
